This is expected behavior in Apsona. The Range and Sort settings configured in a child step (such as Step 2) only control the order of child records within each parent record. They do not determine the overall display order of the final Multi-Step Report results.
If each parent record has only one related child record, the Step 2 Range and Sort settings have no visible effect because there is only a single child record to display. Sorting becomes meaningful only when a parent record has multiple related child records, in which case those child records are ordered according to the configured criteria.
If the goal is to change the overall display order of the final report, this cannot be achieved using the Range and Sort settings in Step 2. Instead, after running the report, you can temporarily reorder the results by clicking the desired column header in the report output. This sorting applies only to the current report view (and any subsequent export) and must be reapplied each time the report is run.
When working with Multi-Step Reports, remember that child-step Range and Sort settings affect only the records within each parent group and do not control the overall ordering of the final report output.
