Why does my Combine field in an Apsona document merge show blank or prompt for a fixed filter when used with a Sublist?

In the Apsona document merge, a Combine field must operate within the context of the records it is combining.

Cause: If the Combine field is placed outside the Sublist’s {!START} and {!END} tags, Apsona cannot determine which records to use. This results in either a blank output or a prompt for a fixed filter (e.g., GAU Name).

Solution: Place the Combine field inside the Sublist block in the Word template so it inherits the Sublist’s related object context.

Best Practice: Ensure the Combine field is linked to the same related object as the Sublist for accurate results.

Outcome: The merge will correctly combine values per parent record without requiring fixed filters.
