The extra cover page appears because Google Docs includes the tab name (document title) as part of the merged output during the mail merge process. When the tab name is changed, Apsona automatically pulls it into the generated document as a cover page title.
To fix this issue:
Create a new Google Doc.
Copy and paste the content from the existing template.
Leave the document/tab name blank (do not rename the file).
Run the merge again using this new template.
After performing these steps, the merged documents will no longer include the unwanted cover page.
Note :
This behavior is specific to Google Docs templates. Word templates do not include tab names in merged output and are recommended if you require precise formatting control.
