Why does a watermark appear in my Word template but disappear in the merged document generated by Apsona, and how can I fix it?

**

This issue occurs because of how the watermark is added to the Word template. In this case, the watermark was inserted as a regular image and placed in the document body as a background image. During the merge process, Apsona injects data directly into the template, and background images added this way are not reliably retained in the final output. As a result, the watermark does not appear in the merged document.

To fix this, the watermark must be added using Microsoft Word’s built-in Watermark feature instead of inserting it as a normal image:

  1. Open the template in Microsoft Word.

  2. Go to Design → Watermark → Custom Watermark.

  3. Select Picture Watermark and upload the image.

  4. Save the template and re-upload it to Apsona.

When added this way, the watermark becomes part of Word’s background layer and renders correctly in the merged document. After applying this change, the customer confirmed that the watermark appeared properly in the merged output.
