Why aren't my Dedupe settings working? "Overwrite empty / null fields" or "Combine Fields" isn't working.
If you merge duplicates and find that one of the settings isn't working, like "Overwrite empty / null fields" or "Combine Fields", it might be because you used the "Custom Merge" option rather than merging the full set of duplicates. When custom merging records, the system ignores the rules that you set up in Step 4 and allows you to have full control over which values get preserved in the merge.
